Configuring SMTP Server
To ensure correct delivery of emails to the user accounts configured in your setup, you must configure the server settings in Aruba Central (on-premises).Starting from Aruba Central (on-premises) 2.5.3.0, unencrypted email server communication is supported. A new option, No encryption is supported for SMTPSimple Mail Transfer Protocol. SMTP is an Internet standard protocol for electronic mail transmission.. When you configure SMTP, you can choose TLSTransport Layer Security. TLS is a cryptographic protocol that provides communication security over the Internet. TLS encrypts the segments of network connections above the Transport Layer by using asymmetric cryptography for key exchange, symmetric encryption for privacy, and message authentication codes for message integrity. , SSLSecure Sockets Layer. To configure an SMTP email server:

Go to the Account Home page.

- Click the External Services tab.

In the SMTP pane, hover over the SMTP server name and click the
icon.
- Configure the following parameters:
- —Host name or IP Address of the SMTP server.
- —Port number of the SMTP server. You can use port number that is configured on the SMTP server.
- —Email address of the user.
- —Password. Retype the password to confirm.
- —You can select SSL, TLS, or No encryption for this field based on your SMTP Server configuration.
- Test Email—Optionally, add a recipient’s email address to test if the SMTP server is configured with the correct parameters. Once you click on the Test Email, you will receive a test email which confirms your SMTP configuration was successful.
The user name and password fields are optional. If the SMTP server is already configured with a username and password, you can use the same. Else, you can leave the two fields without any value. The SMTP configuration is successful even without the username and password.
The Edit SMTP Server section is displayed
Ensure that the SMTP server is configured before creating users and roles in Aruba Central (on-premises).
Recommended Configuration
If you have deployed Aruba Central (on-premises) in the online mode, Aruba recommends that you use any three of the following three SMTP sever configuration settings:
