Planning and Provisioning Devices
VisualRF provides the capability to plan buildings, floors, and location for device provisioning before the actual deployment. Using VisualRF, you can create a floor plan and add devices to the floor plan.

RFRadio Frequency. RF refers to the electromagnetic wave frequencies within a range of 3 kHz to 300 GHz, including the frequencies used for communications or Radar signals. plans ensure that the devices from the device catalog are included.
allows you to add, modify, and import a floor plan background image file. When importingTo create a new floor plan, complete the following steps:
1. In the app, set the filter to a .
The dashboard context for the selected site is displayed.
2. Under > , click . The dashboard is displayed.
3. Click . The tab is displayed.
4. Click in the slide out pane on the right.
5. Click . The pop-up window is displayed.
6. Click and locate a floor plan image file from your local file system. You can import the floor plan image file in the jpg, jpeg, gif, bmp, pdf or png format.
7. Assign a floor name and a floor number in the and text boxes, respectively.
8. Click .
9. You can define new floor by clicking the option on the top right corner.
10. The includes the following option:
a. — Shows the dimensions of the floor.
b. —Allows you to define floor plan boundary and planning region.
c. —Allows you to import walls from the CAD file.
d. —Allows you to add the access point's to the floor plan.
11. Click button after you set the , , and for the floor.
12. To add a planned AP, under > , select the device type from the drop-down menu.
13. In the field, enter the number of devices to add to the new floor.
14. Click and drag the slider bar to adjust data rates for a high density or low density environment.
15. Optionally, click the link to configure the advance deployment options.
a. —Select or to plan coverage by adjusting the data rate requirements (speed) or AP signal strength settings. Click to recalculate the suggested number of APs based on these settings.
b. —In the field, set the anticipated number of clients that will be stationed in the floor. In the field, enter the maximum number of clients supported by each radio. Click to recalculate the suggested number of APs based on these settings.
16. Click to add the planned APs to the floor.
17. Click .
18. To remove the planned device from the floor plan, right-click on that device and click .
Customizing the Floor Plan View
To customize your floor plan view, click the
tab on the right sliding panel. The tab displays the list of campuses and the devices.Click Instant AP and the RF environment.

navigation menu on the right pane consists of the , , and tabs. The following table describes the menu options available for a floor.

Displays the following menu options: —Displays the total number of APs, the planned APs and the number of APs that are down. —Displays the total number of clients. —Displays the floor name. —Displays the floor number. —Displays the current width of the floor plan. To change these settings, click the icon and measure a portion of the floor. —Displays the current height of the floor plan. To change these settings, click the icon and measure a portion of the floor. —Displays the grid. Decreasing the grid size will enable the location to place clients in a small grid which will increase accuracy. The option allows you to set the values to indicate if the environment is related to an office space, cubicles, offices, or concrete.

Displays the following menu options: —Displays APs, and Clients, and Rogues devices detected on the floor. —Shows the heatmap for the current and adjacent floors. —Displays the following details: —Allows you to change the grid size and color. —Shows or hides the labels tagged to the devices on the floor. —To ensure that multi-floor heatmaps display properly, ensure that your floor plans are vertically aligned. VisualRF uses the origination point for this alignment. By default, the origin appears in the upper left corner of the floor plan. You can drag and drop the origin point to the correct position. —Displays the regions defined within a floor plan. For example, you can define two small regions of high density clients within a larger floor plan with lower client density. —Displays walls drawn on the floor. |
Displays the following menu options: —Allows you to draw a region or wall for the floor. —Allows you to add and delete the already deployed or planned devices. —Displays the following options: —Selects all floors. —Exports the floor plan of a specific floor. —Cancels the previous action. —Allows you to create a new floor plan. —Automatically matches the devices that are planned for deployment and reloads the page. —Refreshes the page. —Allows you to replace the current background. |
Importing a Floor Plan
To import a floor plan exported from AirWave or Aruba Central, complete the following steps:
1. In the app, set the filter to a .
The dashboard context for the selected site is displayed.
2. Under > , click . The dashboard is displayed.
3. Click the menu option.
4. Click and select the floor plan zip file to import.
5. Click . When an import is complete, the UI displays a notification to alert the user.
Modifying Floor Plan Properties
To edit the properties of an existing floor plan, complete the following steps:
1. In the app, set the filter to a .
The dashboard context for the selected site is displayed.
2. Under > , click . The dashboard is displayed.
3. Click the floor number or floor name link. The slide out pane is displayed.
4. Click to modify the properties. Customize the floor plan based on the Floorplan—Menu Options table.
5. Click .
Adding Devices to the Floor Plan
You can add the planned devices (for example, APs) or the already deployed devices to floor plan.
To add the already deployed devices to the floor plan, complete the following steps:
1. In the app, set the filter to a .
The dashboard context for the selected site is displayed.
2. Under > , click . The dashboard is displayed.
3. Click the floor number or name link. The slide out pane is displayed.
4. Click .
5. Click the . A list of devices is displayed.
6. Expand the group containing the APs which need to be provisioned on this floor plan. Note that by default, devices that have already been added to are hidden. To show them, clear the check box at the bottom of the list.
7. Click and drag an AP (or a Group or Folder of APs) to its proper location on the floor.
8. To remove a device from the floor plan, right-click that device and then click
To add planned devices when creating a new floor plan, complete the following steps:
1. In the app, set the filter to a .
The dashboard context for the selected site is displayed.
2. Under > , click . The dashboard is displayed.
3. Click the floor number or name link. The slide out pane is displayed.
4. Click .
5. Click and select a device type (model) from the list of available devices.
6. Click and drag the device to the desired location on the floor.
7. To Auto-match the planned devices, click from the tab.
8. To remove a planned device from the floor plan, right-click on that device and then click .
