Connecting Aruba Switches to Aruba Central
The Aruba Switches have the ability to automatically provision themselves and connect to Aruba Central once they are powered on. The Switches support zero touch provisioning (ZTPZero Touch Provisioning. ZTP is a device provisioning mechanism that allows automatic and quick provisioning of devices with a minimal or at times no manual intervention.) using which devices can download their provisioning parameters from the Aruba Activate server.
To provision Switches:
- Connect your Switches to the provisioning network.
- Wait for the device to obtain an IP address through DHCPDynamic Host Configuration Protocol. A network protocol that enables a server to automatically assign an IP address to an IP-enabled device from a defined range of numbers configured for a given network. .
- Observe the LEDLight Emitting Diode. LED is a semiconductor light source that emits light when an electric current passes through it. indicators. For more information, refer to the Switch Installation Guide.
- If the device has factory default configuration, it receives an IP address through DHCP, connects to Aruba Activate, and downloads the provisioning parameters.
- When a Switch identifies Aruba Central as its management entity, it connects to Aruba Central and shows up as a connected device in Aruba Central.
- If the Switch is running a software version that is not compatible with Aruba Central, upgrade the Switch to a supported software version and wait for it to connect to Aruba Central.
